How to Design a Sign for your Business
Professional sign design is the first step to making an effective sign for whatever the purpose is that you are looking for. A sign has three major tasks to perform.
1. First, your sign must present your businesses name, clearly.
2. The second task a sign must perform is communicating what your business does.
3. The last, but equally important is for your sign to communicate your contact information.

Now let's move onto the next job of your sign. Potential customers will see your sign and learn what your business does. Your business's name might be descriptive of the business they perform. A company named "Jim's Carpets" may not need any further description on their sign, because their name says it all. However, if "Jim's Carpets" sells other flooring options like laminate flooring or tile then we recommend adding something to the sign. The sign could then read, "Jim's Carpets" on the top line and "Tile, Carpet, and Wood Flooring" on the next line. Some people might say that you should leave the carpet off the sign for the second time but it will reiterate what the company is known for.
The contact information should be clear and straight forward. If you are designing an off-site sign, we recommend that you end the sign with a phone number or a website address. If your sign is going to be directly in front of business then you might not need to display the phone number. If your business’ name is going to be put on a marquee at a shopping center, the recommendation is to keep the phone number at a minimum and keep the business URL.
